Baseball is Back . . .
And TVBR is, too


The wisteria and false jessamine are in bloom. March Madness is almost down to the Final Four (without, alas, the Tar Heels in the mix). The Cleveland Guards are 2–1, with a promising 159 games still ahead of them.
[Deep breath in. Hold it to the count of six.
Slowly exhale . . .]
Well, then. Almost four months into a new year, and I’m still processing the old one we kicked to the curb. It’s difficult to shake off 2025, isn’t it? And how painful that January 2026 dragged on and on? Then, the terrifying roller coaster rides of February and March.
[Tilt head to the right shoulder to the count of eight. Then, tilt head to the left shoulder. Back to center. Rub your palms together fiercely, generating heat. Cup your warm palms over your closed eyes. Breathe in deeply.
Slowly exhale . . .]
We’re finally moved into the house we bought more than seven months ago. We got the water back on and the drains opened up. We’re knocking out walls. We’re unpacking the office, breaking down emptied boxes, and easing back into the fray.
We’ll post a call for new submissions soon on our Submittable page—based on the prompt of WHERE YOU ARE NOW? We’re looking for short, creative non-fiction pieces—quick hits to get us back into our reading and writing bodies.
The old world has rotted out from its core, cracked wide open in millions of places, scattering old ways. A new world is being born after long incubation and a difficult labor.
It’s time to get out the dust rags, brooms, and mops; air out the linens, and tidy things up.
It’s been gnawing at my gut for more than a year that it’s taking so long to get back to our print issue #26, as well as our Substack publications.
Turns out NOW is the perfect time to turn our focus toward the theme of “Housekeeping.”
And to other human things that remain the same, such as preparing food and sharing stories over meals. “Grub & Sea Salt,” a new piece by Rafael Alvarez, is coming soon.
